SUDAHSER FOUNDATION PROJECTS

Project title: Educational Empowerment on Democracy and Human Rights

Project Summary:
The project aim at providing educational empowerment on democracy and human rights. Our belief is that, a change to uphold human rights can only be achieved once ignorance is replaced with knowledge through the promotion and protection of democracy and human rights. The project emphasize that education encompasses the concept that knowledge must leads to action, that access to knowledge should be empowering, that learning is a participatory process, and that the learner is also the teacher and vice-versa. Our approach is respectful of the rights of learners, and democratic in it organisation and functioning. This is a 1 year project and focuses on women and the youths. Our approach also calls for methods which will reach the widest number of individual women and youths most effectively; such as the development of advocacy/ outreach materials, the used of media, training of trainer, training workshops for women councillors, and leader, and offering or democracy and human rights lessons to youths in secondary and high schools.


Project title: strengthening the organisational capacities of community based-groups and local organisations

Project Summary:
The project focuses on strengthening the organisational capacities of community based-groups and local organisations through professional development and educational empowerment. It intends to reach grassroots organisations in the northwest and southwest regions of Cameroon in an attempt to increase their knowledge on; project and financial management, democracy, human rights, community development, fund raising, computer application and as well as knowledge on how to navigate the social welfare for further help. The project is also aim at building a practical democracy and human rights promotion and protection education network among individuals, educators, groups, and institutions in particular through meetings, and bilateral and multilateral collaborations. Education encompasses the concept that knowledge must leads to action, that access to knowledge should be empowering, and that learning is a participatory process. This is a 2 years project and it approach calls for methods which will reach the widest number of individual grassroots organisations most effectively; such as training of trainers, media and development of advocacy and or outreach materials. It involves training workshops and seminars on the above mention topics and takes the form of lectures, discussions and brainstorming.


Project title: Empowering rural women for effective participation in the community, government, and politics, and to fight violence against women

This project seeks to develop the capacity of rural women to participate in local government, and decision making, fight violence against women, and take up positions in the 2013 municipal elections in Cameroon. It also aim at sensitising women and men alike on the act of gender-based violence that result in physical, sexual, or mental harm to women and the need and method to overcome them. For this reason the project seeks to engage with and influence the following social actors; female political and human rights activist, women community based groups and associations, women councillors, mayors and parliamentarians, local political party leaders, community leader, survivors of violence against women, women and girls in general, and indirectly with the general public. Our belief is that these social actors together can stop violence against women, discrimination, and inequality.

PROJECT TITLE: developing the professional health capacities of local health practitioners and groups on TB, and raising public awareness on TB/HIV

The project is multi-focus and is design to strengthen the professional health capacities of local health practitioners and groups to increase TB case detection, reduced transmission, and ensure effective preventive measures in poor rural communities with limited access to TB services. This is through educational empowerment and professional development training workshop. It is also aim at raising general awareness on TB through the development and distribution of advocacy outreach materials such as handbills, brochures, stickers, and banners. Message on these materials will create general awareness, and stop behavioural practices that promote the transmission of TB.
The project will involve 4 sessions of educational empowerment and professional development, and the focus will be on local health practitioners and groups from limited or no access TB services in the northwest and southwest regions of Cameroon. General public awareness will focus on both rural and urban areas in all the regions developing a sustainable lifestyle to stop the spread of TB.


Project title:“combact sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and HIV/AIDS in Higher Institution of Learning in Cameroon”

focus on carrying a sensitisation
Campaign against sexually transmitted diseases especially HIV/AIDS. Other STDs involve in the sensitisation Campaign include;
Ø Trichonomiasis, Candidiasis, or Bacteria Viginosis
Ø Gonorrhoea
Ø Syphilis
Ø Clamydia trachomatis
Ø Pelvic inflamation diseases
Ø Genital Herpes
This sensitisation is aim at creating awareness on the various common types of STDs in our community, their symtons, how they spread , are prevented, and treated. This project is also aim at Figthing against the stigma and discrinination face by people living with HIV/AIDS and other STDs and to influence the curve of spread of HIV in our immediate environment. It will also promote interpersonal communication contributing to the prevention of these STDs
In making this possible, the project aim at mobilisation of 1000 voluntory student peer educators, who will eventually offer peer education classes in their verious localities, amongst youths and in secondary schools.


Project Title: CIVIC EDUCATION AND TRAINING OF LOCAL ELECTION OBSERVERS

Genuine democratic elections are a requisite condition for democratic governance, because they are the vehicle through which the people of a country freely express their will, on a basis established by law, we domestic election observers expresses the interest of the national community in the achievement of democratic elections, as part of democratic development, including respect for human rights and the rule of law.
This project aims at providing civic education and professional development on local election observation. it aim at traing 500 local election observer. Straining covers subjects such as;
